Some matters require more than advice
Individual in spirit
Our clients' situations are inherently complex, leaving little room for generic answers.
Three principles are central to how we work:
- Whatever the nature of the project, a solution must be tailored to its commercial realities;
- No client wants jargon or ambiguity, so we commit to always tell it as it is and provide clear, direct advice;
- We understand the difference between “most efficient” and “most expensive” and we build each project team accordingly.
Beyond the Rules of the Game
Lawyers – however skilled – operate within constraints. Professional conduct rules and ethical codes shape not only what they can do, but what they can say to client. In many jurisdictions, counsel cannot suggest strategic moves or model outcomes. They also tend to favor solutions perceived as low-risk, even when a conventional "win" may not deliver a tangible commercial result for the client.
We are not lawyers. We do not provide legal services. And that distinction matters.
It means we can sit across the table from you and speak plainly about risk and realistic outcomes. We do not re-evaluate the legal analysis itself. Our role is to pressure-test how that analysis translates into a commercial decision. What must happen before a claim is filed to ensure any future judgment can be enforced? Could a different claim better serve the commercial objective? What tools might the opposing side use to frustrate the legal strategy and undermine the client's objective?
Experience and Network
LFR was founded by practitioners who have worked at the highest levels of international professional services. Our team brings decades of experience in complex corporate structuring, heavyweight disputes, cross-border tax, and forensic matters.
Where a project demands additional expertise, we bring in the right external partners. Our network spans legal, tax, forensic and corporate advisory disciplines across multiple jurisdictions. We are not wedded to any single firm – each project team is built from scratch, based on efficiency rather than familiarity or reputation.
We rarely take on standard mandates, and we do not build standard solutions. Pursuing an unconventional solution requires a team not only capable of thinking outside the box, but also having the time for such focus. Therefore, we are selective about who joins our teams.
If your matter sounds like ours, we'd like to hear from you.
Initial conversations are confidential and without obligation.
